Why we built Otter
Talk to any growing team about hiring and you hear the same story. Resumes arrive in a shared inbox. Someone copies names into a spreadsheet. Feedback lives in chat threads, interview times in calendars, and the real status of a candidate lives in one person's head. Good people slip through the cracks — not because anyone doesn't care, but because the tools make caring hard.
Rohit Gadia, founder and CEO of OneHash, saw this up close. His team at OneHash Technologies already builds software that businesses run on every day — OneHash and Cal ID. The hiring tools on offer seemed to fall into two camps: heavyweight systems that take weeks to set up, or lightweight ones that are really just another spreadsheet.
So we built Otter around a simple idea: an application should become a candidate the moment it arrives. Email a resume to a job's address and it's parsed into a profile. Drag a card and the whole team sees it move. Schedule the interview, collect the scorecard, make the call — all in one place, and quickly.
